Description: A leading consultancy is has a requirement for a Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Birmingham. Although the company are involved in a range of developments they majority of their work involves providing solutions to residential, infrastructure and transport projects in the Public Sector. Employing over 10,000 people in over 130 offices globally they are one of the largest and most established consultancies in the industry. In order to be considered for this position you must have a relevant degree and the relevant knowledge of the site investigation process. Qualification - MSc, BSc Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Geo-hazards Experience - 6 Months Duties - Desk based research into past activities at proposed development sites - Geotechnical site investigations - examining structure of rocks and soil taking samples where necessary - Trial pitting, foundation design, slope stability assessment, design of earthworks and retaining structures - Interpreting data to form accurate technical reports - Liaising with relevant authorities and clients, managing their requests and ensuring that projects are delivered on time Typical projects You will be working on a range of medium and large developments usually for public sector organisations and bodies in the core sectors that the client works within. These will mainly be in the West Midlands and surrounding counties but at times may involve travel to other parts of the UK.
