Description: OverviewProvide instruction in own trade group specialisation to BDS employees and personnel of external companies as directed by the TDM.Carry out NVQ assessment of BDS employees within the “on the job” training programme. Responsibilities include, maintaining a high quality of instruction and teaching courses to the approved syllabus of training as required meeting the BDS Training Plan.Key ResponsibilitiesThrough Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) and involvement implement a programme of Continuous Quality Improvement to improve the effectiveness of the Training & Development Department.To produce and implement in the most cost-effective manner a syllabus and programme of training based upon the Annual Training Plan.The implementation of a personal development system supported by a proactive training programme to the required standards to achieve the Investors in People accreditation.To ensue that statuary regulations are followed and that the highest standards are achieved to ensure customer satisfaction is maintained.To ensure students are aware of their responsibilities and those conditions within the work place that provides a safe and healthy work environment.Ensure that all appropriate syllabus, teaching notes and student notes are accurate and fully amended.Setting theoretical and practical examinations to meet the course objectives and the aims of the syllabus. KNOWLEDGEA sound background in aeronautical engineering with in depth knowledge of aircraft systems within trade specialisation and awareness of all other trade groups. An understanding of the management processes for all 1st and 2nd line maintenance activities. An understanding of the commercial opportunities to further develop the Training & Development Centre as an income generator.A good understanding ofBS EN ISO 9000, BS EN ISO 18000 and BS EN ISO 14000 management systems.A good understanding of the responsibilities of being a Department Manager and the Administration procedures for guidance and action.An excellent understanding of RAF engineering policy and organisation. Desirable:Overall knowledge of the Hawk aircraft preferably with in depth systems knowledge in own trade specialisation.Knowledge in additional aeronautical trade groups or specialist areas e.g. Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality.EXPERIENCEAt least 3 years experience working in the aeronautical engineering industry in a senior supervisory or junior management position.At least two years experience working in an aeronautical training centre/school as an instructor with experience in the planning, design, developing and preparing presentations, course syllabus, training notes and programmes.An understanding of the administration tasks of a training centre/school producing policies, training programmes, technical and administration reports. Desirable:Experience working with military fast jet aircraft preferably the HawkA qualified NVQ Assessor / Internal Verifier in trade specialisation procedures, changing trends and defects that are of relevance to your own trade specialisation.
