Description: Overall Purpose/Objectives of RoleTo purchase materials and services to meet the Company’s cost, quality and delivery requirements.Key duties:1.To place purchase orders and action MAX data as required. 2.To liaise with suppliers to investigate opportunities that may lead to improvements in cost, quality and delivery.3.To raise and process relevant documentation for returning defective parts to suppliers.4.To liaise as necessary with sub-contractors and materials control to ensure continuity of supply.5.To maintain MAX system, ensuring MRP purchasing-related data is accurate.6.To progress suppliers as required by MRP demand date.7.To maintain purchase order status (by amendments).8.To report MRP data statistics to the Purchasing Manager on a weekly basis.9.To attend meetings as required.Purchasing Related Experience·Previous experience of purchasing electro-mechanical goods·Previous experience of working within a sub-contract environment·Ability to assess a supplier’s capability and develop good working relationship with them·In-depth knowledge of MRP/ERP systems·Previous experience in negotiating best terms on price, delivery and service·Previous experience of internal customer liaisonExperience of purchasing electronic components·Experience within avionics industryBusiness Skills·Good understanding of the need to satisfy customer demands and expectationsUnderstanding of the commodity marketplace·Good negotiating skillsPersonal Skills·Good team player·Ability to work on own initiative·Good time management skills·Ability to problem solve ·Goal orientated·Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and WordBusiness AwarenessUnderstanding of the importance of satisfying both internal and external customersQualifications and ExperienceCIPS Qualified with at least two years buying experience within an electro-mechanical environmentOrFive years buying experience within a electro-mechanical environment with other relevant qualification.OtherAble to work overtime when requiredCurrent driving licenceAble to undertake occasional UK travelPlease note.
