Description: JOB TITLE:Specifications TechnologistPURPOSE OF JOBRole focuses on technical areas of the business with strongemphasis on specifications. JOB CONTEXT AND CONTENTThe job holder will be the centre of expertise and willmanage the customer specification interface with major retailers and others.The job will include responsibility for gathering food specificationinformation from various sources both internally and externally andinterpreting / inputting the data such that it matches the requirements ofcustomer specifications.Contact with all departments and staff at the three PastaReale sites. Regular liaison with customer technical and commercial teams.Provision of a comprehensive specifications service to serve the needs of bothcustomers and internal staff. Regular contact with technical and NPDdepartments will be required.Some travel between Pasta Reale sites in Crawley, Dorset andLondon will berequired.KEY PROBLEMS FACEDThe Pasta Reale group is rapidly expanding which has led tothe need for a dedicated and professional Specifications Technologist.Increasingly complex demands from customers must be satisfied accurately and toset deadlines. PLANNING AND ORGANISINGThe Specification Technologist will be required to plan andorganise their own time under the general direction of the Technical managers.Deadlines must be agreed and adhered to ensuring a full and comprehensivespecifications service. This will involves liaising with suppliers, customers and PRstaff to ensure that all required information is gathered and that procedureshave been followed.Advice may be sought from TSO, EHO, Food Researchassociations and Chilled Food Association.DIRECTION RECEIVEDDirection day to day is received from the TechnicalManagers. KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCEPreferably a food related degree or similar with minimum 2years experience of specification completion within the food industry. Specific knowledge of some or all of the followingspecification systems would be ideal: Sainsburys Inspire, Waitrose Ramesys,Co-op LSIQ, Hamilton Grant.Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is mandatory.ACCOUNTABILITIESImplementing and achieving technical specificationrequirements.To obtain complete and accurate information from suppliers,technical and NPD teams to allow correct completion of required specificationsto agreed deadlines.Satisfactory and timely completion of set projects.Provide a comprehensive and accurate specification servicewithin the parameters of the role.To produce complete concise specifications withdocumentation as required.To promote and develop specification procedures andconsiderations within the business. Salary £23k. This person must have a good knowledge of specificationincluding Online specs for Redsky systems, Hamilton Grant, Inspire and WR spec.The hours are the same for all, core hours Monday – Friday8.30 – 5.30 but must be flexible.All these have 20 days holiday plus the chance of membershipto company pension and health scheme after 9 months employment.
