The main skills and experience for this role are listed below.
Key activities will include:
- Managing the daily availability of all servers in the environment.
- Defining availability and capacity requirements for each server within the agreed SLA(s).
- Management of Windows Update Services (WSUS) and the correct application of security settings across all servers.
- Implementing all changes/releases to server resources based on comprehensive risk analysis.
- Profile all servers and provide information into configuration database.
- Work with Business Units to define criticality of servers and server based applications
- Familiarity with technical documentation standards, guidelines and IT industry best practices.
- Management of enterprise backup solution.
- Management of enterprise data replication solution.
- Daily management of SAN infrastructure.
- Identify ways to continuously improve and add value to the team
- Provide Infrastructure project support
- Maintenance of VMWare virtual server infrastructure.
- Provide technical troubleshooting of network issues
- Knowledge of Network services and security
- Out of hours support/maintenance work as required.
Candidate Profile:
Technical Skills
- Educated to degree level.
- Proven 4 - 5 years relevant experience within an IT Infrastructure role in a multi-site environment of 50+ servers
- Experience of working with Dell and HP hardware.
- Experience with HP Blade infrastructure
- Experience of managing a SAN infrastructure (Dell Equallogic beneficial)
- Experience of managing VMWare VI3 in production environment.
- Experience with Brightstor backup solutions and Double-Take replication software beneficial
- MCSE 2003 or equivalent
- Experience of working within an ITIL environment.
Personal Skills
- The person will be technically very strong, be used to working with strict change controls
- Ability to work in a team
- Communicate effectively across all levels of staff
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
