Description: Purchasing Manager - A world leader in the design and manufacture of a broad range of customised RF, microwave and millimetre wave components and subsystems is looking for a purchasing manager for the Newton Aycliffe site with an excellent salary and benefits on offer. The purpose of the role is to ensure the effective management, control and development of the existing supply chain, whilst developing and considering new opportunities and cost reductions. Main tasks for this role will be: · Development of Supply-Chain plans · Critical cost reduction activities · Benchmarking suppliers and overall business capability and ensuring risks are managed · Alternative supplier source for materials and qualification plans for new suppliers · Initiating strategic plans and targets to increase efficiency · Ensuring real time materials supply to production · Investigating alternative processes and suppliers internationally · Involvement with new product introduction (NPI) stages · Management of the buying team, training and development of staff · Management and control of budget and cost centres · Responsible for expediting materials real time to support volume manufacture · Setting up Kanban & innovative logistics/supply models · Ensuring that business reviews (BRM) are held with critical suppliers and metrics (KPI’s) are reviewed and the necessary improvement actions taken · Compiling purchase agreements with suppliers · Conducting audits of suppliers processes and systems The successful candidate will have a Degree in Business Management, Manufacturing Systems or Engineering, and will have experience within a Purchasing, Logistics, Quality and Manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will also satisfy the following requirements. · Experience of Management in a technical and high volume electronics manufacturing environment · International sourcing internationally of mechanics, electronics and custom RF materials · Familiarity of working with ISO9001/PPAP · Strong purchasing & negotiating skills · Commercial understanding and experience of implementation of terms & conditions agreements · Experience in managing costs >20m GBP · Lead auditing skills · Very strong interpersonal skills · Strong Analytic and problem solving skills · Good presentation skills · Computer Literate · Strong Systems Knowledge such as ERP/MRP/PDM . Good organisational skills
