Field Service Engineer Overall Purpose Undertake both planned and reactive maintenance on a region of health clubs, from MIlton Keynes, Bedford, Kettering area. Undertake reactive calls on an emergency call-out rota system, set within their designated region. Person Specification Experience • At least 4 years experience in maintaining mechanical and electrical services in the following areas: o Boiler plant, heating and hot/cold water services. o Domestic and commercial water systems o Heating Ventilation and Air conditioning equipment o Lighting o Knowledge of electrical systems. o Good all round DIY skills. o Used to regular interface with a diverse customer base. o Used to working as both an individual and of a team. • Previous experience of working in a public-facing, culturally diverse environment. Key Activities Responsibilities • Planned and reactive maintenance to boiler plant and hot/cold water services, air conditioning, heating and ventilation systems, electrical services and equipment and minor building fabric on a number of LA Fitness Health Clubs. • Undertake the co-ordination of work carried out in buildings by specialist contractors. • Regular customer liaison with LA Fitness (LAF) staff. • To have an understanding and appreciation of our customer’s business to ensure you are able to talk competently about their service and products. • Regular liaison with the Denton Help Desk ensuring they are kept fully up to date. • Provide support and assistance to other MRTs , especially in the area of technical specialism. • Plan and carry out work in a safe, cost effective manner in line with our customer’s business procedures. • To be aware and observe any opportunity to reduce costs and improve standards and ensure those ideas are shared with your team. • Produce reports on any problems or issues supported by recommendations for improvement/rectifying. • Ensure that you keep up to date with and have awareness of new products and new/improved working methods that can add value by improving quality and reducing costs. • Assisting with general office administration duties when required. Educational/Professional Qualifications Essential: - Either or Both • 16th Edition Electrical. • City & Guilds Inspection and Testing (or equivalent) Desirable: • ACOPs Plumbing • Corgi Registered Boiler Service Technician (Commercial Gas) • Heating Ventilation/Refrigeration / air conditioning experience • IT literate. • Accepts ownership and is accountable for own actions. • Honest, open and a good communicator • Has the ability to identify areas for improvement and recommend these to the rest of the team Aptitude • Ability to identify faults in equipment accurately and quickly when under pressure by applying logical thinking, coupled with past experience. • Understands the basic principles of what represents excellent customer service. • Good active listening and questioning skills. • Can simply explain concepts, techniques and information in a way that ensures maximum understanding. • Able to write accurate, clear and concise reports. • Good understanding of quality standards and systems. • High standards and attention to detail in terms of both accuracy and quality. • Good appreciation of Health and Safety issues. • Excellent attendance record. • Full, clean driving licence.
