Description: The Role Reporting to the Consultancy Manager, the objective of the role is to contribute to all aspects of the company’s Customer Support and Consultancy activities, including: 1. provide an effective technical support service to customers or partners in accordance with agreed processes and procedures 2. to attend customer or partner sites from time to time to deliver consultancy, installation, training and support services 3. participate in provision of e-mail and telephone support services to customers or partners§ participation in out of hours on call cover 4. represent the company in a professional and diligent manner at all times 5. make suggestions for improvements to team processes and procedures 6.manage performance objectives The successful candidate must have 1. Extensive experience of providing external consultancy, installation, training and/or support services (or possibly software testing in a customer facing role) for software products 2. Experience of working for a software house or financial organisation preferred 3. Education to degree level or equivalent preferred, but minimum of 2 A-level (or equivalent) passes 4.Adaptability to learn new technical skills and operating systems 5. Strong technical experience in at least 2 of the following Operating Systems: Windows, OS/400, z/OS or Unix. 6. Ability to write program code in any Object-oriented programming language (Java, Visual Basic, .NET (v2 or above),Cobol, C/C++ or RPG) 7. Technical experience of interfacing with any of the following databases: SQL-server, DB2, Oracle or Pointbase 8. Experience of .NET framework (v2 or above) and web services (Tomcat, Apache, IIS) 9. Understanding of the concepts of embedded software modules and APIs preferred 10. Strong problem solving abilities§ Ability to work extensively without close supervision 11. Clean driving licence and willingness and flexibility to travel
