Description: TA Instruments the worlds leading suppliers of Thermal Analysis and Rheology Instrumentation has an exciting opportunity for a Research Engineer (Electronic) within its UK Research and Development team.Working as part of a small dynamic and well established team, this is a hands-on role and the successful candidate would be tasked in areas of analysis, research, design, development and test.BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION¨Perform a variety of engineering tasks in the areas of analysis, research, design, development and test of the company produced scientific instrumentation.Disciplines include electronics and embedded software (firmware)¨Will be required to research field of interest and establish innovative solutions to technological challenges. Must support potential solution with theoretical analysis and simulation.Must be able to implement potential solutions into practical design¨Conduct tests and evaluate results in order to prove theory, concept and design¨Carry out PCB design, prototype, and support into manufacturing. For small PCB’s this will include layout, component purchasing, assembly, and test¨Support development needs for new products and modified designs from concept through to production¨Assist in the formulation and presentation of business cases to support or justify new projects; participate in discussions to determine business needs for design changes¨Comply with good engineering and laboratory practices and ISO proceduresQUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE¨Ideally BSc degree in a technical or science related field, and no less than 3 years post qualification experience or equivalent combination of education and experience¨Proven track record of technological innovation and must be able to demonstrate experience in developing products using disciplined methodologies ¨Must be familiar with both analogue and digital electronics¨Ability to write firmware in C and assembler¨Experience of multi-tasking real time operating systems¨Previous experience of working in a small dynamic team and/or similar business is desirable ¨Proven track record of working independently and proactively.Ability to manage and prioritise time, able to take direction, but also self motivated¨Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workersTo apply please forward a CV and covering letter for the attention of the human resources department hr@taeurope.co.uk .
