Description: Local Authority Seeks Telecare Support OfficerLocation SM1 Overall Purpose of Job: To be responsible for the day to day operational processes of the telecare service for referrals, assessment, installation and finance To actively promote the use of telecare throughout the London Borough through the development of professional relationships with key stakeholders To maintain accurate records and prepare performance reports Main Duties and Responsibilities: To assist in the implementation of Assistive Technology and Telecare Strategy including management of projects; development of a comprehensive communication plan; and delivery of an on-going training programme. To be fully conversant with developments in Telecare technology and products, liaising with manufacturers, service providers and professional bodies as necessary. To contribute to the promotion of the equipment and services available to users, carers and a range of staff and partner organisations. To administer the operational protocols of the Telecare service for referrals, assessment, installation and finance. To maintain the stock control system for the supply of Telecare equipment and order Telecare equipment as required from suppliers. To organise and manage the installation timetables and supervise and arrange the work of the installers. To create and maintain the client records on both the remote call handling and Social Services database. To provide weekly and monthly Safecall statistics for management purposes. To prepare a monthly electronic Telecare newsletter/ information digest for circulation to people involved locally with Telecare. To contribute to the promotion of Telecare throughout the borough. To assist with the planning to ensure sustainability of the Telecare service after the end of the two year period. To attend and participate in meetings, such as the Assistive Technology Working Group meeting, and take minutes of such meetings as required. To develop a professional relationship with a wide range of professionals at every level including people working in the voluntary sector, primary and secondary health care and the Local Authority. To actively contribute to the Assistive Technology Strategy and to the promotion of a positive image of Telecare services. Attend Telecare and other training courses as required. To undertake such additional duties as are reasonable within the responsibilities of the post and which the line manager may require. The postholder will carry out their duties in accordance with the borough's Equalities and Diversity policy and all other borough and departmental policies and procedures. Job Activities: (Please describe the job activities and how, when and where they are done e.g. types of decision/recommendations; type, content, degree of creativity; range of skills required) Type of decisions/recommendations: The postholder will identify on a day to day basis, areas of concern, taking remedial action where possible but bringing to the attention of their line manager matters outside policies and procedures and recommending solutions where possible. Type, content of degree of creativity: The postholder is expected to respond to queries by telephone and occasionally in writing within corporate timescales. The postholder will be expected to create non-standard letters. The postholder is expected to contribute to the production of written procedures reflecting changes in telecare procedures. Range of skills required: The postholder will be expected to acquire a working knowledge of PARIS and AGRESSO software. The postholder is required to have experience of maintaining clear and accurate records that are accessible to other colleagues. The ability to deal sensitively with the elderly, disabled and confused people by telephone, face to face and in writing. The ability to achieve targets and deadlines is required.
