Description: BT Global Services is looking for a Network Architect, a pivotal role working on key programmes. This is a high-level role with technical responsibility for large communications-based solutions, ensuring that all aspects of the delivery are addressed. Your role will have a contribution to make in the full project life cycle from the initial pre-sales stage through to design and delivery. You will also provide technical leadership and support to project teams across wider IT programme initiatives. Specific responsibilities include: • Within the technical team of this new programme, own all aspects of the LAN/WAN/Voice technical solution including its security, resilience and performance capabilities• Formulate, articulate, communicate and embed a vision of the solution that meets the business objectives and leads others to realise the vision• Agree required scope and high-level designs to meet requirements of the overall client programme• Identify and segment design components within the overall business strategy, producing / assisting in the production of detailed designs as necessary• Network Security - review / recommend / implement solutions as required• Disaster Recovery - network requirements, replication, failover• Strategically define the technology roadmap for all technology platforms• As the programme involves the provision of an IPT solution, you will be responsible for defining a technical design / strategy that enables a controlled migration of voice capabilities between TDM and IPT platforms• Identification and resolution of issues & risks; Quality Assurance; attend regular customer meetings to offer advice from a technical perspective Pre-requisites With an impressive career history, the successful candidate will have relevant experience in many of the above responsibilities, almost certainly gained within a large IT Solutions company or a large blue chip environment. Specific skills / experience / competencies required: • You should demonstrate broad experience in all aspects of network solution design, including Service and Support, Security, Capacity, Reliability and Availability• LAN / WAN design, implementation and troubleshooting knowledge• Must have demonstrable experience of architecting IP Telephony Based solutions • Communications Infrastructure design knowledge, including high availability systems• Accreditations - CCIE strongly desirable (if not working towards CCIE Accreditation) and Nortel Networking professional accreditations• Experience with disaster recovery and impact of security• Good understanding of voice/video requirements• Experience with Wintel server platforms - AD, Exchange, Citrix; and Desktop - Winterm, PC, Windows XP. SAN experience preferable• Ability to understand clients’ needs and offer innovative solutions• Strong communication skills – ability to operate and communicate effectively at all levels and impart technical knowledge to a wide-ranging audience• Demonstrable interest in emerging technology areas and ability to develop own capabilities This is your opportunity to join a business that values its people and rewards their contribution in building long-term customer partnerships.
