Job Overview:Our client are an established automotive manufacturer and are looking to strengthen their existing team with several experienced Maintenance Engineers. As Maintenance Engineer you will have prior experience working on production machines, a good electro-mechanical skill-set and aptitude, and experience with fault finding PLC’s or Robots. As Maintenance Engineer, working continental shifts, you will expect a good salary package with excellent benefits. You do not need electrical qualifications however you must have an electrical understanding.Full Job Spec: To ensure that the necessary mechanical and electrical engineering support is utilised to maximise plant efficiency and to minimise downtime. It includes practical hands-on fault diagnosis and rectification as required, and specific skill on relevant process plant within core disciplines. To plan both for daily manning requirements and special projects, and to ensure schedules are within target requirements. Key Tasks:·Provide electrical and mechanical engineering capability as required to carry out breakdown, scheduled routine and planned maintenance of plant, equipment and machinery within set norms/timescales.·Ensure work is undertaken by the Department in keeping with the systems and procedures for workflow and planning·Assist in the creation of job stepped plans as required·Be prepared to respond to plant problems and emergency breakdown situations as required within normal working hours.·To support call rota as required (subject to agreement)·To receive/issue Permits To Work and ensure engineering work is carried out to all internal and external Health, Safety, Environmental and Engineering Standards.·Undertake specific engineering tasks as required within core discipline to the required quality standard.·Reporting, when required, of any engineering work performed against plans and update relevant systems.·Carry out necessary work from verbal/written instructions and engineering plans to the required standard and within agreed time scales.·To understand and apply Standard Maintenance/Operating Procedures, Method Statements and Engineering Standards as appropriate.·To ensure work is undertaken in keeping with any procedural standard relevant to the company, such as Engineering Standards. ·To assist with the training of personnel.·To ensure that all activity is conducted in a safe manner·To carry out other tasks as requested so as to ensure the smooth running of the department and to ensure that the Maintenance Department equipment and work area are kept clean and in good order. ·To ensure departmental documentation procedures are adhered to, and also manage internal audits and maintain engineering stock control. Personal Attributes:·Skilled engineer capable of working independently:this person should be capable of working independently on complex and high value plant and equipment.·Good problem solver:Should be able to fault find and break down problems in a systematic way, making use of theoretical knowledge ·Target and time orientated:This person needs to be capable of meeting targets for such things as cost and delivery.·HSE Awareness: Including safe systems of work including good house keeping.·Effective communication skills: This person should be able to produce clear, concise and accurate written and verbal information – Standard Maintenance Procedures, failure reports, database maintenance etc·A good Team player: Co-operative and willing to share knowledge with others·Well Motivated: Should be keen and committed, and set high standards by their own example and work as efficiently and conscientiously as possible. ·Time Management:Excellent time-keeping and ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.·Sense of Urgency:This person needs to be able to react to requests for assistance in rectifying/repairing plant problems in a timely manner. He or she needs to be able to prioritize parallel demands and ensure that matters that cannot be handled personally are communicated to management such that appropriate action can be taken.Qualifications:·Apprentice trained to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent·Welding qualifications an advantage.Typical Knowledge and Awareness Requirements:·Good level of knowledge of manufacturing plant and equipment, function and defect rectification·Ability to read and understand engineering drawings·Understanding of the required quality standards·5S methodology·Understanding of continuous improvement methodology·Health and Safety practices and requirements·Reporting procedures·Technical Instruction Sheets, timing plans and similar documentsTypical Skill Requirements:·Use of Lathe, Milling machine, Surface Grinder and guillotine would be an advantage.·Welding would be an advantage.·Pneumatics, Hydraulics and site services equipment such as compressors, water treatment systems and fire protection equipment.·Licensed to use FLT, Scissor Lift, of other access equipment would be an advantage.·Good verbal and written communications skills·Ability to train and educate operators in the safe and productive use of machines·Problem solving ability in order to investigate machine problems and instigate corrective actions·Computer literate ·Conversant with PLC. Preferably Omron, Siemens and Alan Bradley would be an advantage.·Conversant with invertors.
