Description: College Porter – CAMBRIDGE – £17,000The Porters’ Lodge is the first and last place visitors see on entering and leaving the College and is therefore is an important hub of activity with a large variety of tasks.A key requirement of the job is to be able to perform the ‘front of house’ role for the College in respect of Fellows, students, conference delegates, visitors and staff.Good teamwork with other Porters and with staff is vital.The Lodge provides 24 hour service.Main functions of the jobReception Duties - It is the focal point for visitors who will check in and out at the Porters’ Lodge and settle their bills in cash or by using a credit card.The Porters’ Lodge is a central hub of information and activity.Therefore it is essential that good teamwork exists between the Lodge and other departments within the College to ensure that correct answers to questions are given.Porters should be able to work effectively under pressure.Responsibility for security of the College premises and adjacent properties.Keys and security codes are under the control of the Lodge. Also monitoring of CCTV equipment.Receiving and distributing incoming mailCash sales of Meal tickets, stamps, telephone cards and memorabilia Updating records, logs and notice boardsHours of WorkShift pattern allows for 2 days on and 3 days off.Night shift work on a rotation basis as required.Average working hours are approximately 371/2 per week.Some overtime is required on an ‘as needed’ basis to cover for sickness and holidays.Benefits includeA clothing allowance, meals when on duty, 33 days holiday including public holidays.The jobholder will be required to obtain satisfactory clearance under police records by applying to Cambridgeshire Constabulary for ‘Right of Subject Access’ clearance.If this sounds like your next challenging position please call today!
