Description:
An ecologist is urgently required to join this expanding environmental consultancy based in Derby.
Ideally candidates will have previous ecologist experience, preferably within a consultancy framework, with demonstrable skills in field surveying, ecological report writing and liaising with clients. You shoudl also have a good academic background with a MSc/ BSc in a related discipline. Protected species licence(s)are anticipated, as is Professional membership of IEEM or similar. A Full clean driving licence is essential due to the nature of the work.
Duties Include:
- Undertaking ecological field surveys
- Report writing
- Liaising with and advising clients
- Collaborating with professionals from other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects
- Designing and implementing mitigation and management schemes
- Managing and mentoring more junior members of staff
As an ecologist with this multidisciplinary consultancy you will join the existing team of ecologists and work on projects across the Midlands, with opportunities to work further afield from time to time. You will undertake various ecological surveys, including protected species surveys and phase 1 habitat surveys, designing and carrying out the surveys in accordance with current UK legislation. You will prepare subsequent reports and also implement habitat management and mitigation schemes when necessary. At all times you will maintain communication with clients and teams from other disciplines ensuring projects are a success and ensuring future business. You will provide support to the senior ecologist and also mentor more junior members of staff, aiming to continually develop your skills and knowledge.
