My client, a charity that finds young people emotional and practical help and support, is looking for a Head of Helpline. The main purpose of the role is to provide clear leadership and take day-to-day responsibility for running the charities’ telephone, email and web-based helpline, ensuring the highest standard of service delivery.Summary of the role:Job title: Head of Helpline Salary: £28.000 – £32.000 per annumHours: 35 hours per weekLocation: Central London NW1Duties and Key Responsibilitiesa) Management of the helpline? Direct responsibility and accountability for the delivery of the helpline? Direct responsibility for child protection? Utilising existing methods and developing new systems to monitor and evaluate the service? Analysing issues raised by service users to determine strategic responses ? Developing links with relevant helplines and services, particularly those we most often signpost to; participating in relevant networksb) Strategic development of the helpline? Making recommendations on the short, medium and long-term development of services? Developing and implementing annual department workplans to achieve organisational goals and objectives? Planning and chairing the Service Provision advisory group meetings? Being a member of the senior management team? Promoting and raising the charities’ profile c) Management of employees and volunteers ? Providing appropriate training and support to enable helpline staff development? Evaluating and developing training programmes as appropriatePerson specification:? Experience of managing a relevant project or service, preferably in the young people’s sector? Experience of working with/supporting volunteers as well as managing employees? An understanding of what makes a high-quality helpline, and monitoring and evaluation? Knowledge and belief in the rights of young people and an understanding of the issues that they face? Excellent communicator with a wide variety of audiences ?
