My client, a lobbying organisation that aims to establish a vibrant voluntary and community sector, is looking to employ Governance and Leadership Consultancy Development Manager. The main purpose of the role is to manage the development and delivery of a programme of work that will improve the effectiveness of third sector organisations by strengthening the skills of board members and staff with governance and leadership roles and of their support providers.Summary of the role:Job title: Governance and Leadership Consultancy Development ManagerSalary: £38.000 – £40.500 per annumHours: 35 hours per weekLocation: Central London N1Duties and Key ResponsibilitiesA. To be responsible for the ongoing development of a package of consultancy services offered under an organisation’s brand.• To develop and monitor a business plan for consultancy services• To maintain an overview of the wider third sector and ensure that consultancy services are up-to-date, relevant and represent good value for money.• To maintain an overview of competitor servicesB. To be responsible for scoping developing internal staff expertise in order to meet a proportion of requests for consultancy support and raising awareness of key governance and leadership issues across the organisation.• To conduct a number of consultancy assignments each year• To work with policy, research, communications and parliamentary functions to ensure internal awareness of research and policy changes.C. To establish and develop working relationships and partnerships with appropriate external consultants.• To develop standards and criteria by which external consultants would be selected to participate in internal consultancy assignments• Work with consultants to negotiate a business model that benefits this organisation, but that also maintains an emphasis on quality if supportD. To raise awareness of the charity’s governance and leadership consultancy work in the wider third sector, and seek out opportunities to profile our expertise and thinking through third sector press and PR.• To develop good working relationships with the press and with influential opinion formers in the third sector• To establish regular mechanisms for our organisation to lead and influence third sector debates on governance and leadership E. To be responsible for developing the sustainability of the consultancy services, with a first-year income-generation target of £25,000.• To monitor and review the business-model for our consultancy service, ensuring year-on-year growth.• To investigate additional income-generation opportunitiesPerson specification:- Educated to degree level or equivalent written and analytical skills- Comprehensive knowledge of governance and leadership across all sectors- Experience of working with and development of third sector boards – governance reviews etc- Experience of generating income- Experience of managing complex relationships with a range of partners- Experience of the marketing & promotion of events, publications and services- Ability to plan, manage and deliver projects and a work programme to agreed deadlines.- Ability to negotiate & influence othersIf you feel that you meet the person specification and consider this role as a positive challenge I welcome you to apply for this role online.
