Description: Our client is an integrated waste management company operating throughout London and Greater London. Committed to the principle of sustainable waste management, their client base is varied and includes Government bodies, port authorities, commercial organisations and the armed forces. Working in a growth area means that there is constant demand for skilled and qualified engineers to maintain their heavy industrial range of equipment. As such, a vacancy has arisen for a Mechanical Fitter based from their North London depot, which is easily commutable from the North Circular Road, M25, M10 and M11.You will carry out repairs and installation work on all mechanical equipment installed across a number of sites and for the implementation of PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) on mechanical equipment, e.g. pumps, conveyors, motors, turbines, compressors and boilers. You will be involved in machining to close tolerances, welding, steel fabrication and lubrication of existing equipment,, diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs You will also be involved in training other members of staff and inspecting and supervising work carried out by contractors,To succeed in this role, you will be qualified to NVQ Level 3 or hold a recognised trade certificate such as City & Guilds or HND in Mechanical Engineering, or be apprentice trained in Mechanical Fitting. You will be able to demonstrate a logical and systematic approach to fault-finding and possess relevant technical experience in repair, installation and PPM work in heavy process industry or another heavy industrial or engineering environment. Direct experience in the repair and overhaul of steam turbines is desirable along with a knowledge of the following plant: water tube boilers, pumps, cranes, hydraulic systems, compressors, fans and conveyors. You must have a high level of determination to complete the task, take ownership and accountability for the tasks , be able to work with others and be flexible enough to work on call and overtime when required, Benefits include paid overtime and callout, a contributory pension scheme and excellent opportunities to progress to management.This is an excellent opportunity to join an innovative market leader in a growth area of engineering.
